Reasons voters are dissatisfied with U.S.

In November and December 2017, PolicyInteractive surveyed voters from Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and California, seeking public opinion on many topics, including how they feel about our country today (results for all questions here). When asked how satisfied they were with “the way things are generally going in the U.S. at this time,” 68% of respondents answered that they are dissatisfied. Those 68% were then asked to type out one or two issues that invite that dissatisfaction. Words chosen to describe reasons for their dissatisfaction were used to create the word cloud shown below.

“In just a few words, what do you think are the one or two issues that cause your dissatisfaction with how things are going in this country now?” Word cloud created from answers to why 68% reported dissatisfaction with how things are going in this country now (the larger the word, the more times it was used in survey-taker responses). Note: N = 1103; 86% of those who are dissatisfied are registered as Democrats
